Since its launch in 2018 in Copenhagen, The Politics of the Machines (POM) has been rooted in collaborative structures and participatory ways of working. Today, as POM evolves and expands across continents and disciplines, we recognise the need to welcome new voices and diverse perspectives.
Therefore, we are now looking for enthusiastic new members to join our multiple collaborative teams that will help shape and propel POM into its next phase.
Invitation for New Members
POM conference series is expanding. We are looking for visionary thinkers and makers to join our POM Boards. We invite scholars, artists, designers, curators, theorists, technologists, researchers, and practitioners from around the world to shape the next chapter of POM’s international trajectory and work with us on the future editions of the conference series.
POM brings together bold perspectives on the entangled worlds of machines, humans, more-than-humans, environments, aesthetics, politics, and technology. Since its inception, POM has worked across disciplines and geographies to cultivate critical, imaginative, and experimental approaches to art, research, and emergent knowledge practices.
The POM Board and Editorial Team are at the core of this mission of guiding POM’s vision, shaping thematic calls, evaluating and selecting track proposals, supporting host institutions, and sustaining the intellectual, ethical, values and speculative impulses that define the series.
We are now opening our boards to new voices interested and ready to contribute to POM’s interdisciplinary mission and its evolving future.
Eligibility
We welcome expressions of interest from individuals who have:
- A demonstrated practice or research trajectory in areas including art and technology, critical media studies, technoscience, philosophy of technology, art & science, anthropology, digital culture, computational arts, and design research—along with openness to relating, new and/or emerging domains that push the boundaries of these fields.
- Experience working within academic, artistic, or cultural contexts and networks.
- A commitment to collaborative, cross-cultural, and cross-disciplinary distributed exchange.
- A critical orientation toward technology, systems, and socio-political forms of knowledge production.
- Prior participation in POM conferences is great, but not required.
Submission Requirements
- A short biography (200–300 words)
- A brief statement of intent that outlines:
- Your envisioned contribution to the POM Board.
- Your interests and expertise in relation to POM’s themes and future directions or conference-related work.
- Any initiatives or areas you would like to develop within the network (organisational work, publishing and editorial work, the work of the main board).
Timeline
Submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Selected applicants will be invited to an introductory conversation with current board members.
